I've been asked to setup a server with Document Management System (DMS) and Contact Management System (CMS) at the time being. This server could be expanded to be a Email Server and Printing Server as well.
Decision is mine for using whatever software. As I prefer the LAMP model for legibility issues, reliabilty and cutting costs. Here's the list of software to be used to configure this server:
- Operating System: Ubuntu 7.04 Server Edition
- Database: MySQL 5.0.38
- PHP5
- Web Server: Apache2
- DMS: Alfresco
- CMS: SugarCRM or Liferay
Installing Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) server edition is straight forward. I didn't do extra steps than:
- Downloading the .iso file and burn it to CD.
- Boot the machine with Ubuntu CD.
- Partition the HDD and go through the installation screens (find screenshot in the below reference).
Partitioning however is little tricky to give every filesystem the suitable space. I'll give my small tips here later.
