That was nice. I finished very late (at 9:00PM) finding that it's raining. It wasn't good nor bad day, just normal. I can't drive home like this, so I go in the mall thinking of something to do until it stop raining. "Why don't spend the night in Cinema?", I thought and wished to find an interesting film out this Cairo Film Fest not like yesterday schedule. Well, I checked the cinema schedule and found a Spanish movie called "Sin Ti (Without You)" and a Netherlands movie "Guernsey". Choose the Spanish, seems romantic. Spent the remain hour beside the pianist playing in the ground floor of the mall and here we go, time for cinema: "My God, pls don't send me bad movie". Starting seems nice, then suddenly, Lucia got an accident and becomes blind. "Oh no, I'm not in the mode for blue movies". It's hard for her, husband, daughter and son. All are suffering and in many scenes, they wanted to pull my tears out but no, I don't want to, I want to laugh, pls. She go for a charity where they teach blind people how to accept their blindness and deal with the world with new senses that were usually neglected. There, she meet the teacher, "Laura" and a colleague, "Little C". With Laura, she is passing a long journey from darkness to light, from fear to trust, from loneliness to friendship and from death to live. Time to be back to her life, where she find her husband and daughter refusing her and ashamed from being with her in public. On other hand, her son is enjoying being with her, sharing building toys and guiding her around but she's not happy because her husband is ignoring her and her daughter is trying to escape from home. Her teacher, Laura, appears again in her life being as a close friend, spending time with her at home. "Little C" also invited her for few outings when he dies in one outage by bus accident. Story outlines are normal but the director succeed in showing deepest emotions in every character. Every character had his problems from the husband being surprised that his beloved wife became blind, daughter trying to find some other company, laying in chatting with someone that she's blind, son who make a great effort to discover the dark world by blindfolding his eyes and walk across the house to discover how to guide his mother. Laura which believe is not good assistant and left the charity trying to find what she need to do in life. "Little C" with his problems with his family. Some of the scenes were very affective, when Lucia tried to suicide in the charity and Laura see her and told her "I'll not stop you, do what you want" and she stopped by the door acting like she left but Lucia couldn't complete her suicide to find Laura beside her. Another scene when Lucia got out of the charity and got depressed from her husband. While one of Laura visits, Lucia complains, "They are ashamed of me, I feel like I'm blurred". Laura take her hand to touch her face but Lucia try to discover Laura's body. They don't go so far, just touching like both of them are hungry for love. When they stopped going further, Lucia laughing, "This turns me on" and Laura reply, "Good, this's healthy, you ... we are not blurred". The last scene was good too. Lucia was afraid of water after the accident because she got blind while she was taking bath. But, in the last scene, Lucia (or Ana Fernández) go down to water fountain and begin to touch water with her hand and put her face in water to sense it with her "naked face" in a scene that makes you smile to life. Going out of cinema and it's not raining and the weather is nice. While I'm walking to my car, I don't know why I remember my Grandmother. May be because she was blind too, I don't know but I feel that I miss her. Miss her touch, playing in my hear when I was young sleeping beside her. Driving home at midnight with those drops on the front glass, no cassette, just thinking, "Live is ridiculous without you even if I don't know WHO are you!!!!" |

don't missunderstand
i'm not expecting some jokes of course, but i sought some interesting material like a new poll and that kind of stuff.
thanx for your posts anyway, but i meant that the movie was so sympathetic
So, u felt depressed from
Anyway, the movie give hope and peace feelings although its story appears to be depressing. The movie is capture real life/feelings on screen in a way that make your brain work:
Life is better Without You
Will futhur thinking about the movie title "Without You". I was little confused about it coz I didn't see it's related to the movie story. As Lucia got apart from her husband and partially from her daughter although they admit that they love her but they got separated coz they can't hold each other more. Lucia got attached to new persons, "Little C" who die in accident and to her assistant Luara who express love with her for a few moments.
I think that the title was different in my head, it was "Life is bad Without You" while the movie makers could mean: "Life is better Without You" which give more sense to the story.
It is amazing how sudden
It is amazing how sudden simple unexpected things could remind us of the most precious moments in our life ....
that other day just a bakery smell reminded me of my grandma (the princess of stories)
and a playing reminded me of my other grandma, who was blind too, when I saw 2 people play cards I remembered how amazingly she used to play with us and even beat us ,,,
